During the lockdown, I was fortunate to be enrolled in a class with Vera Dickerson at the Studio School. Vera held the class online through e-mail. She would demonstrate a painting by providing step by step photos and instructions. We were given insight into her planning, thought process, color choices, etc. Then we could choose to use the same technique for our own painting … or not.
When we completed a painting, we sent a photo of it to Vera for critique. Vera copied our photo and used “markers” on the computer to add little bits of color, making suggestions for ways to make the composition more e ective. It was wonderful! I learned so much from this!!! Vera’s comments were always very positive. She really knows how to make a painting sing! During the seven-week class, Vera critiqued 88 paintings!
At the end of the class, Vera o ered us an extended critique class for four more weeks. So I’m still busy painting!
